Description

Dumpling - as we’re known to our friends - is an independent games studio located in Sheffield, UK. We specialise in making smart little mobile games that pack a big punch; that means fun, casual, social games that are good to play with. Dumpling combines the award-winning talents of Travis Ryan (Outrun2, SEGA All-Stars, Kinect Sports) and Brent Poynton (Viva Piñata, Xbox Avatars, Kinect Sports) who together share a passion for arcade, blue skies and making experiences worth talking about.

History

Dumpling was founded in 2013 by game designer Travis Ryan, who after 15 years creating much-loved arcade titles with SEGA, RARE, Microsoft and Sumo-Digital, followed his passion for making super fun games with a dream of revitalising classic arcade thrills for a new audience. In 2015, after collaborating on what would become Dumpling Game#2, Brent Poynton joined as a Director and technical lead, alongside long-time visual collaborator Steve Warburton who is responsible for Dumplings vibrant, visual output. • Dumping are located in the original Gremlin Interactive building, where Travis started his career as a tester 17 years prior, and going back further where he'd' skip art college to play the latest games in Just Micro.
• The ‘dumpling smile’ brand encapsulates our product philosophy of making bitesized, tasty and social games, but was selected as it’s our favourite food.
• Travis used to be a farmer; his road to game development revealed after seeing an Asteroids arcade cabinet in his fathers workshop.
